हमारे जीवन में खेलों का अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है जीवन में व्याप्त दुख और चिंताओं को भुला देने की सामर्थ्य खेलों में है खेल मन बहलाने और मन को ताजगी तथा स्पूर्ति से भर देने का कार्य करते हैं जिस खेल में बहुत परिश्रम और शारीरिक गतिविधियां करनी पड़ती है उन खेलों के कारण खिलाड़ियों का व्यायाम होता है शरीर स्वस्थ और बलिष्ठ बनने में खेलों से सहायता प्राप्त होती है खेलों के कारण मानसिक धर्य जीवटता और खिलाड़ी पन जैसे गुणों में वृद्धि होती है सामूहिक खेल खेलने से पारस्परिक सहयोग और मेलजोल की भावना में वृद्धि होती है और नेतृत्व गुणों का विकास होता है।
खेलों के प्रकार
खेलों के दो प्रकार होते हैं एक घरेलू खेल और दूसरा मैदानी खेल जिसे इनडोर गेम और आउटडोर गेम कहा जाता है
घरेलू खेल इंडोर गेम
घर में अथवा किसी एक स्थान पर बैठकर खेले जाने वाले खेल को घरेलू खेल अथवा इंडोर गेम कहा जाता है जैसे कि शतरंज ताश पासे वाले खेल लूडो कैरम कौड़ियों वाले खेल यह खेल कहीं पर भी बैठकर खेले जा सकते हैं प्रायः लड़कियां सागर गोटे यह बैठक वाला खेल खेलती हैं घर-घर खेलना अथवा गुड्डा गुड्डी का खेल खेलना छोटी छोटी लड़कियों का खेल समझा गया है परंतु उसमें घर के सभी लोग सम्मिलित हो सकते हैं विशेष रूप से गुड्डा गुड़िया की शादी का खेल तो पारिवारिक आनंद का समारोह होता है आज के जमाने में इंडोर गेम में बच्चे हो जवान हो या बु ढे हो मोबाइल लेकर गेम खेलते हैं मोबाइल में कई तरह के गेम होते हैं इस प्रकार के खेलों को इंडोर गेम कहते हैं
मैदानी खेल आउटडोर गेम
